Fifth annual Alabama Sales Tax Holiday: August 6-8, 2010

Shoppers will have the opportunity to purchase certain school supplies, computers and clothing free of the state's four percent sales or use tax.  Rainsville and Dekalb County have opted to participate again in 2010 by waiving county and city sales tax on those items.

That means you can take advantage of ZERO percent tax on hundreds of items on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, August 6th, 7th and 8th.

What's tax exempt during the tax holiday weekend? It's not just back-to-school essentials. Jeans, boots, pants, skirts, dresses, and shoes up to $100 will be tax free. Computers up to $750 - tax free. School supplies up to $50. See this Alabama Department of Revenue information sheet for a broader list: Sales Tax Holiday Quick Reference Sheet (PDF)
